Upcoming events:

It’s almost Earth Day!  Join me for 2 great Earth Day events in Westchester:

4/21/18 Earth Day story time and fun at A NU Toy Store, 16 Main St., Tarrytown, 1:30, in conjunction with other TEAC events.  Begin your day helping to clean up local parks, grab lunch in town, then head to the toy store.  Visit the Facebook event page for more details and to let us know you’re coming!  I’ll be doing an encore reading at Pierson Park when the band takes a break around 4:00 pm.

4/22/18 Barnes and Noble Eastchester 12:00-4:00 pm, meet and greet, book signing, and Earth day giveaways.  Visit the Facebook event page for more details and to let us know you’re coming!

I am always eager to speak at events and meet people with similar interests.  Please contact me if you would like me to attend an event.

A look at the past:

March 13, 2018, 6:30-7:00, pajama story time at YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester 515 North Street, White Plains, NY  10605

Join me at the Y for a brown bag dinner at around 6:10, followed by a meet and greet and reading of my 2 picture books.  We’ll march and play with doodleloos and then get cozy for a bedtime reading of No Place Like Earth.  Visit this Facebook link for more details and to let us know you’re coming!

Sunday 12/10/17, 2:00-4:00 pm

Book Festival at Eastchester Library 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester, NY 10709

Meet and greet with authors, including Susan and Larry Berliner, Rinku Bhattacharya, Lori Fettner, Janet Garber, and Mel Parish.

Books make great gifts (signed copies are even better), and this festival comes just in time for the holidays.

Independent Authors Day, Saturday 10/14/17, Eastchester Library, 11 Oakridge Place, Eastchester, NY 10709.  Events all day, 10:-00-3:00.  I’ll be reading both picture books in an interactive story time at 2:00.  Meet and greet and book signing to follow.  And yes, there will be doodleloos!  More details and let us know you’re coming here: https://www.facebook.com/events/823736414500160/

Irvington, NY, Farmer’s Market, Sunday 10/8/17, a quick reading in between bands from about 10:45-11:00.  This will be my premier reading of What Do You Do with a Doodleloo, and I’m very excited.  A quick reading, but I’ll be around with all 4 of my books before and after.

Barnes and Noble Local Authors Festival, Scarsdale, NY: 9/24/17 12-4.  Once again I’ll be joined by the amazing Jason Carter Eaton, author of Great, Now We’ve Got Barbarians!; How to Train a Train; and more! There will be about a dozen authors at this event from various genres, so something for everyone!

I’ll have copies of all 4 of my books available. Welcome to Motherhood makes a great gift for all those new moms in your life (September is the most popular birth month), and Teaching to the Child for all those teachers, new and old, returning to work.

A great event.  More pics in an album at Facebook.com/authorlorifettner.

When: Sunday, 4/2/17, 2:00 p.m.

Where: Warner Library, 121 North Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591

Unlike my other events, this will be more a celebration of poetry than a celebration of new moms (although moms of any experience level are always welcome and will be celebrated!)  I will have complimentary lesson plans from my online teacher store available, and will be reading from Welcome to Motherhood with a focus on guiding aspiring poets.

The goals for teachers: Making poetry fun for reluctant readers, and ready-to-go administration approved lesson plans for poetry month

The goals for poets: Tips on process and how to avoid writer’s block and poetry pitfalls

Both Welcome to Motherhood and Teaching to the Child will be available for sale and signing, and I may also have my brand-new picture book about space!

If you are interested in this event, please let me know via the Facebook event page so I can be sure to have enough materials: Poetry discussion and Lesson plan giveaway

  1. On behalf of the Westchester LP, I wish to extend our thanks to you for speaking before our group. Education is an important part of our lives and like many of our generation I fear for our children’s future if the schooling they receive is substandard. I am heartened by your enthusiasm and solutions offered. I wish you continued success in spreading the word.
